At least three things about music have always fascinated me: The first is that despite being something intangible and practically immaterial, it has such a clear effect on the mood of living beings, so tangible and material, being capable to provide them with pleasure and pain from a distance. The second is that it is not natural but artificial, an exclusively human creation that would not exist in the univers without our existence. And the third is its close relationship with other mysterious things, such as mathematics or time: numbers, fractions, minutes, seconds
Al menos tres cosas de la música siempre me han fascinado: la primera es que, a pesar de ser algo intangible y prácticamente inmaterial, tenga un efecto tan claro en el estado de ánimo de los seres vivos, tan tangibles y materiales ellos, que sea capaz de proporcionarles placer y dolor a distancia. La segunda es que no sea natural sino artificial, una creación exclusivamente humana que no existiría en el universo sin nosotros. Y la tercera es su estrecha relación con otras cosas misteriosas, como las matemáticas o el tiempo: números, fracciones, minutos, segundos
